A Journal Entry

Sometimes, writing in my journal feels like this.

I didn't get home until 2 in the morning last night, which explains why I didn't post last night like I usually do.

I need to start today's post by sending a big thank you to my dad. He taught me constellations growing up and taught me how to remember them. I took a constellation test yesterday for my Astronomy test, and it was the easiest test I've ever taken. I walked out of the testing center on my high horse like I owned the place because I KNEW I had just scored 100% on the test. That was the best feeling in the world. So here's to you dad! Couldn't have done it without you!

Due to the fact that I completely owned that test, I decided to reward myself with an early weekend.  I didn't go to work like I was planning (don't worry, I wasn't expected to be there so I'm not a bad employee) and I called up my friends for a nice evening.  We bought some pizzas, watched 5 or 6 episodes of Tosh.0, and sat around talking for quite a while! It was a really good night.

One of the things we talked about were those people who insist on being at every single event and party because this one might be the "big one" that everyone will be talking about for the rest of...the week until there's another big one.  My parents look at me as a party animal, I probably am.  But I learned an important lesson a couple of years ago about this.  When I had the chance to go with my family to Cirque de Soleil, I chose instead to hang out with my friends. I don't even know what we did that night, but I do know that I've hung out with them countless times since then, and I missed a chance to see a really cool show with my family.  I don't have much time to spend with my family and close friends until I have to leave them, so I'm enjoying every moment I can with all of them.

I think the best part about the friends I have is that we don't have to throw a huge extravaganza party to have fun, we can just buy a pizza and talk and have a blast doing it.  You don't find people like that very often, especially my age. People my age have lost a big chunk of communication through texting, facebook, etc. Now, I'm a big fan of both and use them frequently, but there's something to be said about face to face communication; and I honestly think if you don't have your head around that skill, you need to get on it. It's an important skill you need for dating, for a job, and it makes you a pleasant person people want to be around, and who doesn't like that?

Oh my gosh...I sound like my dad....
